I will never sleep late again!
How to sleep early? Read my story and notes to see what you can do to go to bed and fall asleep early.
I used to be a night owl. I never went to bed before midnight and even after I lied down, I still spent at least another hour on my phone or laptop. It’s a bad habit with a lot of negative consequences. When my condition reached an alarming level, I have to fix it. And it is one of the best choices I have ever made.
How do I change my sleeping pattern?
Schedule my sleep.
I set a reminder for myself to pause everything and go to bed at 10. I wasn’t accustomed to the new pattern yet, and I knew it, hence, I didn’t try to force myself to sleep early immediately. Basically, I was lying down on my comfortable mattress and trying to free my mind from work and stress.
Do exercise and be careful about what I eat!
Exercises have such great effects on my body. On busy days, I settle for light activities, and it still feels relaxing enough. It burns off spent energy and makes me fall asleep more easily.
As advised by health experts, I cut off ingredients with a spicy flavor or too much fat in it and stopped with the big meals in the late evening. This way, I don’t feel full and restless.
It was sheer luck that I’m never into coffee or alcohol because these drinks are notorious for an energy boost, they are the main cause of sleeplessness. If you live off caffeine, try not to have it after 4 P.M.
Settings on my phone and laptop.
I did some research about the blue light from our hi-tech devices and the negative effect of it on our eyes and hormones. Therefore, I changed the settings on the phone and installed an app on the laptop. They will reduce blue rays and replace them with a soft brown hue.
The wonder it does to me!
There clearly was some remarkable improvement in every aspect of my daily life after only one month.
Boosting my energy more than any coffee does
During the first week, my primary priority was to sleep and wake up at a fixed time. That alone gave me a good start in the morning. I woke up feeling light and not grumpy. You know how your mood affects everyone around you. As I approach everything with a smile, tasks and missions are as simple as a piece of cake!
Better efficiency at work
I only noticed the increase of quality on the next week, when my boss complimented me for no longer rushing the deadlines as well as their quality. However, if I sit down and think about it, it comes from nothing else other than the new sleeping habit I have adopted. I used to stay up past 2 A.M and try to finish a report, but I realized I could complete the same amount of work within an hour in the early morning.
Great mental and physical health
Surely, the productiveness must have an origin, and it was the memory, sharp thinking, and non-anxiety. I don’t forget things anymore. I find the answers to my problems quickly. And I do everything with my mind at ease.
Moreover, seeping late often rendered me sick the next day, but I can say goodbye to my swollen eyes and runny nose now. If you have experienced driving or walking on the street while sneezing and shedding tears, you would know how much it means!
Confident
Every time I suffered insomnia and pulled a white night, I had to use an extra load of cosmetics to cover up the panda eyes and the pale skin. Magically, after the second and the third weeks, the condition of my skin became so much better, and I feel confident going out with only a layer of powder and some lipstick.
Despite the fatigue sleeplessness might cause you, it doesn’t help to consume much energy. In fact, the habit of staying up late at night messes up your diet pretty badly. With the adjustment in my routine, the exercises that I do also seem to have more effect and maintain my body weight in an ideal range.
Last saying
And that was the wrap of my experience. I have heard that a good sleeping habit can also ensure a healthy heart and fight off cancer in the long run. For now, I’m happy with the minor changes it brings to my life, and I won’t ever go back to being a night owl!
